Our History

Rosewood First Baptist Church was founded in 1949 and grew into what it is today by dedicated members seeing the need for fellowship and worship in the Rosewood area. Below are a few highlights in it's formation and growth.

1949 - Today

RFBC was founded in in 1949 in Rosewood at the corner of NC 581 and State Road 1236 (Rosewood Road). 

The first pastor was Reverend E. L. Parker.

Cherished Beginnings

In 1949 there were 35 Charter Members: Ivey Wadsworth, Bertie B. Wadsworth, Mr. and Ms. R.C. Oxford, Marie Wadsworth, Clarence and Lillian Sasser, Ms. A.H. Oxford, Bunion and Susie Newsome, L.J. Sasser, Jesse Paul Sasser, Ruth Sasser, Carolyn Sasser, Arnold and Hazel Newsome, Frances Newsome and Doris Newsome. Other Charter Members: Earl and Hilda Radford, Ms. A.L. Ingram, Milton (Buddy) Westbrook, Ms. J.L. Ingram, Bernice and Catherine Sutton, Helen Hodges, Peggy Mitchell, Marjorie Sasser, Frances Sutton, Ruth Sutton, Betty Clyde Newsome, Pat Bailey, Rebecca Newsome, Ms. Charles Edwards and Betty Grace Radford.

RFBC Today

Today, RFBC is a thriving worship center with Sanctuary and offices, including the addition of the Family Life Center. The FLC facility contains a multi-purpose room named Braswell Hall, in honor of Rev. Vernon Braswell. The FLC also houses our Sunday School classrooms and kitchen, completing construction in 2004.
